Managing geographically distributed infrastructure in a single window

With DCImanager, you can manage the infrastructure of all data centers from a single window, even if they are located on different sides of the world. This functionality is implemented through the platform's location mechanism. It eliminates the need to buy multiple licenses of different software, switch between systems, or request data from remote locations.

Operating principle of locations and secure architecture

A location is a logical entity in which a server is allocated to manage the data center infrastructure. DCImanager connects to the location server via SSH and configures services.

Working with multiple data centers using DCImanager. For each location, a control server is configured that communicates with the central platform Working with multiple data centers using DCImanager. For each location, a control server is configured that communicates with the central platform

To protect your infrastructure during remote management, we have implemented the following procedure in DCImanager for handling locations:

  • Working with locations via SSH only.
    This eliminates the need to open ports through which intruders can attack;
  • Isolation of locations from each other.
The equipment in each location is linked only to the central DCImanager platform, but not to each other.

How centralized data center management helps to save money

Many tasks are performed without the presence of employees in the data center

DCImanager’s main dashboard shows information about the status of all locations DCImanager’s main dashboard shows information about the status of all locations

With DCImanager, you get a single and accurate picture of the entire infrastructure: what equipment each data center has and in what condition it is. No need to aggregate data from different sources or switch between systems. This increases control accuracy and flexibility.

Within each location, DCImanager allows to:

A preinstalled set of images of most popular operating systems and software installation scripts (e.g. LAMP, LEMP, OpenVPN, Django, ISPmanager and others)

Software fine-tuning (Shell/PowerShell)

Using ready-made Shell/PowerShell scripts from ISPsystem repository, creating custom scripts and running them on the server automatically immediately after OS installation

Automation of VLAN sales

Automatic creation of VLANs and editing their members. Provision of VLANs as an extra service to the dedicated server rent service. Setting up billing with BILLmanager or other billing system

Search of PXE servers

Search and auto-adding of new servers in the background mode via PXE in a selected network or IP range

Search of BMC servers

Search and auto-adding of new servers in the background mode via BMC in a selected network or IP range

User self-service portal

User client area with access only to the user's allocated resources and the option to manage servers and virtual networks

IPMI proxying

Gaining access to IPMI web interfaces by proxying requests through the location server (without accessing the server directly over the network)
