Hyper Expert experience
How the ISPsystem ecosystem helps a cloud hosting provider build a powerful infrastructure for research and information technology learning
About Hyper Expert
Hyper Expert is a community-driven platform that provides high-performance computing resources to students, teachers, researchers, and independent developers. Our goal is simple: to make powerful cloud infrastructure accessible to anyone who wants to learn, build, or experiment without the usual financial or technical barriers.
Unlike traditional hosting or cloud providers, Hyper Expert is not built around profit or scale. It is a grassroots project powered by curiosity, open collaboration, and a belief that access to real infrastructure should be part of learning computer science. Every system is designed with transparency and education in mind, fueled by purpose, not profit.
Because Hyper Expert operates as a lean and purpose-driven project rather than a large enterprise, our focus is reliability, automation, and security over bureaucracy. Our environment is fully self-hosted, using high-performance servers colocated in secure data centers.
Infrastructure management is handled with modern DevOps practices that combine Linux virtualization, VLAN-based isolation, IPv6 routing, and automated backup systems. Monitoring and configuration are centralized for efficiency, and much of our operational philosophy is “build once, share openly,” so that others can learn from the same systems that run the platform. .
The Challenge: Fragmented Tools and Manual Work
Before integrating the ISPsystem suite, our overall IT architecture relied on separate tools for billing, virtualization, and resource management. These systems required constant manual synchronization and lacked a unified framework for automation, monitoring, and customer provisioning. Managing user accounts, server deployments, and DNS records often involved repetitive tasks and inconsistent workflows across multiple interfaces.
The main task was to unify management across billing, virtualization, DNS, and physical servers while keeping full control of the environment. The goal was to simplify operations, reduce manual work, and improve the overall stability and transparency of our hosting platform.
The Solution: An Integrated Ecosystem
ISPsystem’s suite became the natural choice because it offered an integrated ecosystem designed exactly for these needs. BILLmanager, VMmanager, DNSmanager, and DCImanager work together seamlessly, allowing centralized control of every part of the infrastructure from a single interface. This unified approach aligned perfectly with Hyper Expert’s philosophy of efficiency, openness, and reliability while maintaining complete independence from external cloud providers.
Implementation: Fast, Smooth, and Independent
The launch process was straightforward and smooth. After testing the individual components in a lab environment, the full integration of BILLmanager, VMmanager, DNSmanager, and DCImanager was completed within a few days. Most of the setup was done independently, with documentation and support from the ISPsystem team used mainly for fine-tuning and best practices.
Once connected, all modules synchronized seamlessly, allowing instant communication between billing, virtualization, and data center management. The deployment required minimal downtime and was fully operational within the same week.
Results: A Fully Integrated Infrastructure
After implementing the ISPsystem suite, our infrastructure became fully integrated under a single management ecosystem. This brought seamless communication between billing, virtualization, and data center management. The result is a streamlined environment where provisioning, customer billing, DNS configuration, and hardware monitoring all operate together automatically.
This integration reduced administrative overhead, improved reliability, and made it easier to scale operations while keeping full control over both the physical and virtual layers of the infrastructure.
Products in Daily Use
All four ISPsystem products play a vital role in our daily operations, but VMmanager and BILLmanager have been the most impactful. VMmanager powers the core virtualization platform, handling instance creation, routing, and resource allocation with stability and precision. BILLmanager connects directly to it, automating user management, provisioning, and invoicing in one place.
DNSmanager simplifies domain and reverse DNS control, while DCImanager provides visibility and organization for the physical servers in the data center. Together, they form a single, reliable ecosystem that keeps everything running efficiently without external dependencies.
