IP address management (IPAM)

DCImanager manages the address space via IP address management:

  • combines physical networks and IP addresses into pools;
  • allows VLAN management;
  • supports IPv4/IPv6 management;
  • assigns IP addresses and subnets to the equipment;
  • checks for IP addresses in the DNSBL;
  • saves the history of network activities.

IPv4/IPv6 management and address space tracking

Pooling IP addresses and physical subnets

DCImanager allows you to manage physical networks and combine IP addresses into logical entities —- pools. With the help of pools you can:

  • allocate separate groups of IP addresses for special tasks;
  • easily determine how many addresses in the network are free, how many and what equipment is occupied.

Automatic and manual assignment of IP addresses

When provisioning a server to a client, the administrator can assign selected IP addresses to it manually or automatically. If DCImanager is integrated with BILLmanager or another billing platform, you can choose from which pool IP addresses will be assigned.

Managing IP addresses and networks

DCImanager keeps an inventory of IP addresses and helps prevent various mistakes in managing them (for example, allocating the same address twice or "losing" IPv4).

Checking IP addresses in the DNSBL

In DCImanager you can check IP addresses in DNSBL — blacklist of hosts which were noticed to send spam and failed to confirm the opposite. Traffic from suspicious IP addresses may be blocked and not reach the recipient. Checking in the DNSBL helps prevent spam attacks from compromised IP addresses.

History of network activities

DCImanager shows the history of actions in physical networks: who and when made changes to the network settings of equipment. This helps better control infrastructure management and investigate incidents.
