Shared domain name

In DNSmanager 6, users cannot create subdomains for a domain that belongs to another user. If you need to create a domain for which all reseller users can create subdomains, create a common domain.

Creating a common domain is available only to Resellers.

Creating a common domain

To create a common domain:

  1. Go to Settings → Common domains → Create.
  2. Specify the common Domain name.
  3. Specify the Subdomain limit — the maximum number of subdomains each user can create in the common domain.
  4. Click Ok.

You can change the IP addresses of a user with their own namespace and of a reseller. To change a user's IP addresses:

  1. Go to Main → Users or Resellers.
  2. Select the desired user and click Edit.
  3. Enter the new IP address.
  4. Click Ok.
If a user is using the reseller's namespace, changing the IP address for such a user will not be available.

Configuring user access

By default, all reseller users have access to the common domain. If you need only certain reseller users to be able to create subdomains for the common domain, you can restrict access to it. To manage access settings for a common domain:

  1. Go to Settings → Common domains → select the desired common domain and click next to it → Access. The access management window for the common domain will open.
  2. Mark the users who should be allowed to create subdomains and click Allow.
On the platform, it is impossible to deny all users access to a common domain simultaneously. If you need to prevent users from creating subdomains for a common domain, delete it.
