In this article you will find information about lifetime licenses for ISPsystem software products, and why it is important to update on a regular basis.
Types of software licenses
You can order ISPsystem software licenses for 1 month, 1 year, and lifetime period. Monthly and yearly licenses include free updates.
Every lifetime license for any ISPsystem software product includes only one year of free updates. After one year, updates can be obtained with a yearly subscription, which cost equals 50% of the yearly license cost. The minimum order period is 1 year.

Updates subscription has expired
If you don’t renew your license, the control panel will continue working as is. This means that all the current features will be available, but you won’t be able to download new functionality.
Moreover, you won’t be able to add new cluster nodes in ISPmanager Business, VMmanager or DCImanager.
Also, integration modules may stop working due to changes made by third-party companies.
Example: Updates subscription for your control panel expired on January 20. You don’t buy updates and continue using the panel and integration module with the panel “A”.
- On March 30 developers of the module made some changes to it.
- ISPsystem developers released an updated version to make the module compatible with the panel “A”.
- Clients, who regularly purchase subscription, can update their module, and continue using it with the panel “A”.
- Since you don’t get updates, you can continue using the panel “A”, but the module will stop working.
Other issues may occur as well. That’s why we recommend keeping your panel up to date.
It’s not beneficial to buy a lifetime license, right?
It’s difficult to say. Purchasing Lifetime licenses will be beneficial for you, if you are planning on using the license for more than 3 years.
Let's consider an example with ISPmanager Lite. Suppose you are planning on using the license for 4 years. You will save 40 EUR in comparison to 1 year license or 72 EUR in comparison to 1 month license.
I don’t use modules, so I don’t need updates
ISPsystem panels are integrated with a wide range of third-party applications. Some of them are not modules; they can be components of operating systems, such as PHP or MySQL. They are updated very often, and some updates are crucial for business. Even minor changes can lead to compatibility issues with ISPmanager. We release updates in order to solve such issues.
Besides, you won’t get new features that we add regularly. That’s why we recommend all users to update ISPsystem panels.
Bingo! I will skip one year and buy updates only for the next year
Unfortunately, it’s not possible. If you want to purchase the software product update, you will need to buy such update for the entire period elapsed since the last paid update of your panel was performed.
Updates allow you to get all the new features, improvements, and fixes released since the last paid update. From the technical point of view, you cannot upload updates only for a certain period. So, you need to purchase all the updates that we released since your last update subscription expired.
Example. Updates subscription expired on January 20, 2017. If you purchase updates in March or later, the updates package will expire on March 20, 2018. If you don’t buy updates for the current year, you will need to buy 2 update packages, which will expire on March 20, 2019.
How to purchase an updates package
Log in to your Client area, navigate to the ISPsystem licenses module. Select your license — click Renew. Make sure that you have sufficient funds for renewal.
If you purchased the license from one of ISPsystem’s partners or resellers, please contact your license vendor directly.
Can I roll back?
No, you cannot downgrade to the version, which is less than your current panel version.
