Network equipment and network management

With DCImanager, you can manage any network equipment and keep an inventory of network resources. You can add a switch; configure ports and VLANs in a few clicks. Documenting network settings, inventorying and assigning IP addresses is automated. If DCImanager detects errors or excess traffic on the ports, the administrator will be alerted.

IPv4 and IPv6 management

DCImanager manages both IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses:

  • Keeps track of the address space so that administrators do not have to deal with network settings and public IP addresses do not get lost.
  • Automatically or manually assigns IP addresses to devices.
  • Maintains a history of IP address allocation and changes. This helps clarify situations more quickly, for example, in the event of an incident.
  • Checks IP addresses in DNSBL services.

Managing switches of any vendor

DCImanager works with switches from all popular vendors: Aristo, Сisсo, Juniper etc. This eliminates the need to use different software to manage different vendors and switch between interfaces.

Managing network equipment through DCImanager is easy and convenient. If necessary, any specialist can solve a simple problem on his own - for example, to execute a network engineer's command to promptly disable the port.

Switch management capabilities:

  • View port settings and status (information is updated every five minutes).
  • Add a note to the device - for example, specify its purpose or leave a note for the administrator.
  • Quickly enable or disable a port.
  • Indicate the device connected to the port and monitor the load on the ports.
  • Change port settings (speed, mode, trunk).
  • Automatically take inventory and manage VLANs directly from the interface.

VLAN management and inventorying

In DCImanager, you can configure VLANs without going to the switch console. The platform also automatically detects virtual networks that engineers have created directly on the equipment. Directly from the interface you can:

  • Create VLANs.
  • Edit VLAN membership.
  • Set up trunk ports.

User VLAN and VPU

With the "User VLAN" and "User VPU (vlan per user)" modules, the user can combine their dedicated servers into one virtual network

Placing servers in VLAN
Manually by the user
Automatically when ordering servers
VLAN management
The user creates and configures the VLANs independently
Users do not manage VLANs
Supported switch models
Does not depend on the switch model
Does not depend on the switch model

Advantages of the User VLAN and VPU modules

Enhanced security

User servers are additionally isolated from each other. This eliminates a number of threats, such as IP theft.

Monetization for hosting providers

User VLAN and VPU can be provided as an additional service to leased dedicated servers. Billing is set up through BILLmanager or another billing system.

Advantages of the User VLAN and VPU modules

DCImanager monitors the operation of switches:

  • Indicates whether the port is on or off.
  • Whether there are errors on the ports.
  • Collects statistics: traffic volume, network load, traffic consumption by the 95th percentile (Burstable).
The Server Statistics section shows traffic for the selected period The Server Statistics section shows traffic for the selected period
