ISPsystem software solutions now support Debian 8 «Jessie»


We know how important it is for ISPsystem’s customers and partners to have access to cutting edge technologies. That is why we are happy to announce that ISPmanager 5 LiteBILLmanager, DNSmanager and IPmanager now support newest operating system Debian 8 Jessie.

ISPsystem saw a great interest and increasing demand for Jessie long before its official release, so once it was launched, we hit the ground running. Immediately after Debian 8 Jessie’s release, our development and QA teams began to work on its support. And now, its out and supported with software newest versions.

Key changes

You can learn more about the differences between 8th and 7th version of Debian OS at https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/. Let us describe some key changes:

  • Jessie ships with a new default init system, systemd. The systemd suite provides many exciting features such as faster boot times, cgroups for services, and the possibility of isolating part of the services.
  • Release includes numerous updated software packages, such as Apache httpd 2.4.10, PHP 5.6.7, MySQL 5.5.42 and others.
  • Debian 8 Jessie will be supported for the next 5 years, thanks to the combined work of the Debian Security team and of the Debian Long Term Support team.
