To enable resolution (IP address lookup) for third-level domains, BILLmanager creates an A-record for the subdomain in the provider’s DNS zone. To do this, configure integration between BILLmanager and the product managing the provider’s zone. Supported platforms are DNSmanager or ispmanager.
When integrating with ispmanager Lite, ensure the configuration file contains the "InsecureDomain" option. If missing, add it:
echo "Option InsecureDomain" >> /usr/local/mgr5/etc/ispmgr.confWhen integrating with ispmanager, create a technical domain on its side. This domain must be linked to the account template specified in BILLmanager’s service tariff.
The provider’s domain — under which third-level subdomains are issued to clients — must be delegated to name servers hosted on a server managed by DNSmanager or ispmanager.
Connecting a name server
To configure BILLmanager integration with a name server control panel, go to Integration → Name server:
- Processing module — select a control panel: DNSmanager, ISPmanager 6, ISPmanager 5, or ISPmanager 4.
- Integration settings — specify access credentials for the control panel:
- Provider — select the provider that will use this name server.
- Name — enter a name for the integration.
-
URL — specify the address of the target control panel. For example:
https://myserver.com:1500/dnsmgr.Ensure the control panel is accessible from the BILLmanager server. - Username — specify the integration user in the target control panel. The access level must be "User" — not "Reseller" or "Administrator". This user must own the DNS zone where third-level free domains are created. BILLmanager will act on behalf of this user to create subdomain records.
- Password — enter the user’s password.
- For free domain name — enable this option to allow the integration to be used for creating free third-level domains.
- Provider name servers — enable this option to use the server for creating provider-owned domains.
-
Private name servers — enable this option to use the server for creating custom domains.
The Provider name servers and Private name servers options are not relevant for shared hosting services and are not supported by the ispmanager processing module.
We do not recommend using an ispmanager instance that hosts shared hosting services as the name server for free domains.
The domain under which third-level subdomains are created must not reside on the same ispmanager server used for shared hosting.
