The platform is specified for each server when the server is supplied and modified. It determines the server type and the limits of configuration. DCImanager contains the platform types, it is a directory where you need to add a server platform before creating it.
Automatic platform creation
DCImanager specifies the server equipment during diagnostics. If the specified platform is not matched the found equipment, a new platform is created automatically. To find out more, read Server diagnostics.
Manual platform creation
Click Types of equipment → Platforms → Add.
New platform creation
Specify:
- Name — internal name of platform type;
- Type — select "Common server" or "Blade server";
- Server size — available only if the "Common server" is selected;
- Type of CPU socket — type of connector for the processor;
- CPU sockets — number of CPU sockets;
- RAM slots — number of RAM slots;
- Max. RAM (Gb) — maximum RAM that can be added;
- HDD slots — number of HDD slots;
- PCI slots — number of PCI slots.
Platform for blade servers creation
Specify:
- Name — internal name of platform type;
- Type — select "Platform for blade servers";
- Server size — server size in units;
- Number of blades.
