Supported devices

DCImanager 6 supports management of the following types of equipment:

  • servers;
  • switches;
  • power distributors (PDU);
  • uninterruptible power supplies (UPS);
  • BMC;
  • Intel AMT;
  • storage — Infrastructure version only, see more in Storage module.

DCImanager 6 uses special modules called handlers to manage the equipment. Handlers are program modules that allow you to manage the devices. The article contains information about available handlers and their compatibility with specific models of equipment.

Before connecting the equipment to the platform, please configure it following the instructions from the manufacturer:

  • before connecting a switch, a UPS, or a PDU enable and configure the interface for interacting with the platform — usually it uses SNMP or vendor-specific protocols, such as NX-API;
  • before connecting BMC, configure the handlers and enter credentials for the users.

Servers

The ability to work with the server equipment means that you can interact with its BMC via the platform interface and API:

  • monitor the sensor readings;
  • manage the server's power and network connections;
  • install OS from the templates and ISO images that are stored on the location server.

The equipment can be unable to support all the platform features. Basic functions work for all servers that support either protocol:

  • RedFish;
  • IPMI 1.5/2;
  • Intel AMT.

The list of available operations depends on:

  • version of the server or the motherboard;
  • version of the server BMC.
If some platform functions are unavailable for your equipment or your firmware version, you can request additional support for your equipment via ISPsystem client area.

Switches

If there is no special handler for the SNMP managed switch, check its operation with the Common (SNMP) handler. If the device does not work properly with this handler, you can send requests for support for your equipment through your ISPsystem client area or the features.ispsystem.com service.
The DELL handler was tested on Dell Force-10 (Series: s60) and Dell PowerConnect 5548 switches. When working with other Dell switches, some platform features can be unavailable.
MAC address detection is supported only for Cisco Catalyst and Juniper switches.
