Platforms

When adding a server to DCImanager 6, you need to specify its platform type. For a rack server, the platform defines its size in units, for a blade server — the number of slots occupied in the chassis.

  1.   Enter EquipmentEquipment typeServer platformsCreate platform .
  2.   Specify the platform Name .
  3.   Select the platform Size in units.
  4.   Select Rack size.
  5.   Press Create .

To create a platform for a blade server:

  1.   Enter EquipmentEquipment typesBlade server platformsCreate a platform .
  2.   Specify the platform Name .
  3.   Select the platform Size in the chassis.
  4.   Press Create .

You can also add a platform on the server adding form.

To delete a platform, enter EquipmentEquipment types → select the platform →   MenuDelete platformDelete .

Note
You can delete a platform only if there are no servers with this platform type in DCImanager 6.

Changing the server platform

You can change the platform of one or multiple servers. For the change to succeed, the new platform must be able to support all existing connections and include all the components in the servers.

To change the switch platform:

  1. Go to ServersIn use.
  2. Select the required switches.
  3. Click Change platform. If you selected a single switch, the general settings window for that switch will open. If you selected multiple switches, the platform selection window will open.
  4. Select the desired platform or click Add platform and create a new one. For more information about creating a platform, see the article Adding a switch.
  5. Click Save.
