A virtual machine (VM) created on the VMmanager platform is called a virtual server on the BILLmanager platform. These terms are used interchangeably in the article.
VMmanager 6 allows you to add a note for a virtual machine (VM). A note is arbitrary text that you can specify. It does not affect the VM's operation but helps to:
- specify the purpose. For example, "Testing a capability — do not delete until 31/12";
- leave a contact. For example, "Responsible person is Alice, email:
example@example.com
"; - record a status. For example, "Do not reboot without approval", etc.
Notes for VMs:
- are synchronized with VMmanager 6. If you add a note in BILLmanager, it will automatically appear in the VM settings in VMmanager;
- can be added or edited for one or several VMs at once;
- are saved in the VM history along with all changes.
How to add a note
To add a note to a VM:
- Go to Products/Services → Virtual private servers → select one or several virtual servers → Edit.
- In the Main settings block, fill in the Note field.
- Click Ok to save the changes.
Configuring note parameters
To manage note parameters for VMs, go to the Products → Product types → Virtual server → Parameters button. Click the Edit button. The following values are set by default:
- Internal name — comment;
- Show during order — the parameter is inactive. Activate the option to allow the client to specify the parameter value on the service order page;
- Read permissions and Edit permissions — client. Set the minimum user level for whom reading and editing the parameter is available:
- client;
- employee;
- superuser;
- Input field type — String field.
For more details on configuring the remaining parameters, see the article Product type parameters.
