Notes to VM

A virtual machine (VM) created on the VMmanager platform is called a virtual server on the BILLmanager platform. These terms are used interchangeably in the article.

VMmanager 6 allows you to add a note for a virtual machine (VM). A note is arbitrary text that you can specify. It does not affect the VM's operation but helps to:

  • specify the purpose. For example, "Testing a capability — do not delete until 31/12";
  • leave a contact. For example, "Responsible person is Alice, email: example@example.com";
  • record a status. For example, "Do not reboot without approval", etc.

Notes for VMs:

  • are synchronized with VMmanager 6. If you add a note in BILLmanager, it will automatically appear in the VM settings in VMmanager;
  • can be added or edited for one or several VMs at once;
  • are saved in the VM history along with all changes.

How to add a note

To add a note to a VM:

  1. Go to Products/Services Virtual private servers → select one or several virtual servers → Edit.
  2. In the Main settings block, fill in the Note field.
  3. Click Ok to save the changes.

Configuring note parameters

To manage note parameters for VMs, go to the ProductsProduct typesVirtual serverParameters button. Click the Edit button. The following values are set by default:

  • Internal name — comment;
  • Show during order — the parameter is inactive. Activate the option to allow the client to specify the parameter value on the service order page;
  • Read permissions and Edit permissions — client. Set the minimum user level for whom reading and editing the parameter is available:
    • client;
    • employee;
    • superuser;
  • Input field type — String field.

For more details on configuring the remaining parameters, see the article Product type parameters.
